The Expanse Season 3: Fight or Flight

Image
The Expanse Season 3: Fight or Flight We were halfway through watching season 2 of the X-Files when season 3 of  The Expanse  was finally released, so it's taken us a few weeks to get to the point where we can finally start watching this. This is not a review, and there's not really much in the way of spoilers, I just wanted to say something after so long (over on G+) of complaining that it hadn't reached UK digital shores yet. I must admit though that the delay meant that I'd forgotten most of what had happened (and have definitely forgotten the ordering and exact events of the books), especially aboard the Rocinante , so I wasn't ready to start caring about that crew again until the very end of the episode, when things started to pick up. What I did what to see more of though were Bobbie and Avasarala, and everything else was pretty much a distraction from that. The thing that disappointed the most though was the Razorback - compared to how I imagined i...

Dreams of the Yellow King - Part 16

Image
Diary of Costian Raduva, Part 16 - The Tricorn Hat As we sailed down the Sellen River aboard the Sellen Starling , we pass by the town of Bellis on the border of Andoran, the birthplace of freedom. Captain Skywin Frelling Our next acquisition is the Tricorn Hat of a captain, specifically Captain Vadrak of the Bloodwind , an unholy pirate vessel with red sails which we had the misfortune to have seen once before shortly after we left Thrushmoor. Since we had concerns about this acquisition, we thought it prudent to try and contact our ally in the Dreamlands named Ash, by activating the clockwork eye which he had provided to us after we first met. Doing this allowed us to summon him, for just long enough for him to be able to provide us with some information on what we were up against. The captain's ship, the Bloodwind  is said to be alive, with a mind and purpose of its own. The captain himself is said to have a reputation of leading many crews to their deaths, tho...

Serpent's Skull - Part 54

Image
Fighting Serpents within the Serpent Tabansi's Journal, Part 54 After being driven out (on the holy wings of a  Word of Recall ) of the serpent folk citadel (built to look like a huge 100ft tall coiled serpent) at the centre of the subterranean city of Ilmurea, we planned a return in order to continue our search for the Pathfinder Eando Kline. Ek'Tura scouted ahead using his spells and declared that the entrance we used previously was still safe. By making use of Wind Walk provided by Derek the rest of us followed on and alighted as misty clouds of fog amongst the rubble around the hole in the side of the serpent. At this point I spotted movement amongst the rubble, and Ek'Tura was able to pinpoint an invisible serpent creature with a human head hiding there (which we were later to identify as a Naga). As the rest of us tried to revert back to physical form more serpentine creatures appeared from up and down the passage, and began casting offensive spells a...

DELTA GREEN // AZURE PENNANT (Part 2)

RESTRICTED   TOP SECRET//ORCON//SPECIAL ACCESS REQUIRED-DELTA GREEN-AZURE PENNANT  Authored by: Special Agent Susan Fields Reading carefully through the coroner's report for Darryl Oberman, the coroner seems to have taken great pains to not mention anything unusual, which makes our cover up operation that much simpler. Amongst the details listed, the coroner found evidence of extreme blunt force trauma to the head, which had caused massive bleeding into the brain. This would have been sufficient to be fatal, except the video footage showed no evidence of any physical strikes to Darryl Oberman during the fight, 'just' gunshots. However, the report does mention that samples of the body were sent to the medical department at West Virginia University for further analysis and testing. We put in a request for our old colleague Dr Marius Grey to head there, investigate, and prevent any civilians finding out anything too dangerous. A careful re-checking of the...

Investigating The Spires of Xin-Shalast

Image
I'm currently prepping for the last instalment of our Rise Of The Runelords campaign, which means writing up my own notes on the adventure rather than just blindly following what's written in the adventure path book. It's not just that I want to add a bit more detail to the adventure as written, but I find my thought processes work differently to that of the authors, and writing the notes in the way that is best for prompting my own memory helps a lot. Often with pre-written adventures I find that the sort of information that I need to have on hand at a particular point is included in a completely different section, or not at all. I generally use Google Docs for this, detailing different topics and sections in their own documents to make it as easy as possible to find the necessary information. For example, the initial part of the adventure concerns trying to find the lost city of Xin-Shalast by following up clues from a previous expedition. However, there isn...

DELTA GREEN // AZURE PENNANT (Part 1)

RESTRICTED TOP SECRET//ORCON//SPECIAL ACCESS REQUIRED-DELTA GREEN-AZURE PENNANT Authored by: Special Agent Susan Fields 9th February 2019 Almost two years after the events of Operation Shale Oil in Helena, Montana, most of the team are called upon again to investigate some events in Charleston, West Virginia. The team consists of the FBI Special Agents Susan Fields and Nick Daniels, as well as the CIA operative Lilia Fox. We were asked to report to Supervisory Special Agent Marcus Neil in Charleston. There, we are shown some incomplete footage from a police bodycam, which shows cops performing a stop and search of a bearded white biker. The suspect is seen to get violent, and is shot by both tasers and handguns, but still manages to drag one of the police officers to the ground and began to savage him. Unfortunately, the footage is cut off at that point. This footage had been leaked to the internet, by unknown persons. It belonged to an Oak Hill police officer, Of...

First Post

This is a first post using Blogger under the new domain, and is really just an experimentation with how things work. There is absolutely no content here, so isn't worth responding to. Ultimately, I'd like to have control over my own content, so using a service like Blogger has definite downsides in this regard. However, it is also easy and requires no hosting requirements on my part. For the Snark was a Boojum you see...
